Gung-Ho!, which is bringing Europe’s largest inflatable slide to Windsor in September, as part of a unique 5k race, is joining with charity Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service to help raise funds to provide respite, palliative and end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service already funds the Alexander’s Care Team, which currently provides support in children’s own homes as well as supporting their families.

The Maidenhead-based charity has around £1.2m to raise to meet its £5m target to build Berkshire’s children’s hospice with work scheduled to start in September.

The charity has been chosen by organisers of the race and features ten huge inflatable obstacles which participants have to navigate their way through.

Charity volunteers will help steward the event on 26th September at Royal Windsor Racecourse in return for a donation from Gung-Ho! as well as staff and supporters taking part to raise funds.

CBeebies presenter Alex Winters who came up with the idea and will host the race said:

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service to raise money by not only holding collections on the day but also by supplying volunteers who Gung-Ho! will pay an hourly rate to, for the charity.

“Of course charity volunteers and supporters can enter the race and get sponsored which is a really fun way to raise money for such a worthy cause.”

Fiona Devine, CEO and co-founder, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service said:

“Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is delighted to be the charity partner of Gung-Ho! It’s an exciting challenge that brings the community together for a day of fun at the same time as helping to build Berkshire’s children’s hospice.”

The event takes place at Royal Windsor Racecourse on 26th September and intro tickets are available for £35 until July 24th and £40 after this date until August 21st. For more information about Gung-Ho! and to book tickets visit www.begung-ho.co.uk follow on Facebook: BeGungHo or Twitter: @BeGungHo
